Driver Changes in NASCAR Sprint Cup for 2014

There has been a lot going on the past few weeks in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series! I will keep this post updated so you can keep track of all the confirmed driver changes for 2014.

*For a quick overview, read the lines in italics.

1. Stewart-Haas Racing: It was announced last November that Kevin Harvick, who currently drives for Richard Childress Racing, will make the move to Stewart-Haas Racing in 2014.

In July, Ryan Newman received news that he will not be returning SHR. Kurt Busch, driver for Furniture Row Racing, will take his place.

2. Richard Childress Racing: As mentioned, Ryan Newman will drive for RCR next season, taking the place of Jeff Burton. Burton currently does not have a ride for next season.

Austin Dillon, grandson of Richard Childress and currently racing the NASCAR Nationwide Series circuit, will make the move into the Sprint Cup Series full-time in 2014.

3. Michael Waltrip Racing: Mark Martin and Brian Vickers shared the No. 55 ride this season, and it will be Brian Vickers who will drive for MWR full-time next season.

Mark Martin, who is the fill-in driver for Tony Stewart in the No. 14 because of Stewart's injury earlier this season, will work with Stewart-Haas Racing for testing and to mentor Danica Patrick.

4. JTG Daugherty Racing: AJ Allmendinger, who lost his Sprint Cup Series ride with Penske Racing in 2012 because he violated NASCAR's substance-abuse policy but has occasionally driven the No. 22 for Penske in the Nationwide Series this year, will replace Bobby Labonte in the No. 47 in Sprint Cup. Allmendinger was a fill-in driver for Labonte while Labonte recovered from broken ribs from a bicycle accident.
